SURVEY AND SETTING OUT
HEROIZUTECH SERVICES Ltd provides hands on site based courses for Site Engineers, Setting Out Engineers and Surveyors.
The course is for one week duration from Monday to Friday, practicing use of surveying equipment and setting out techniques on real life construction sites where you will be trained by an experienced engineer. Saturday; though optional introduces candidates to supporting topics including roles and responsibilities and contract documents.
You will learn the basics and mathematics of engineering, reading and understanding construction and site drawings as well report writing and documentation. Practical sessions enables candidates to practice with a range of surveying instruments including Leica, Trimble, Geomax and Topcon total stations, laser levels, automatic levels and plumb lasers.
Candidates are individually assessed and are introduced to data download, analysis, charting and plotting.
At the end of the Course, candidates will be able to:
- Apply traverse in site control.
- Calculate areas and volumes using various methods.
- Calculate distance to/from instrument to one or more points.
- Carry out both deformation and structural monitoring in real time.
- Create jobs, folders, name jobs and manage memory.
- Create spreadsheet for monitoring projects.
- Enter, edit, search, and delete data.
- Establish control networks including primary and secondary controls.
- Level, check profile and sight rails for ground works.
- Measure distance between remote objects.
- Measure distances, angles, slope, horizontal and vertical distances.
- Plot surveys using Auto Cad.
- Read, understand construction and site drawings including; Structural and Reinforcement drawings.
- Relate information to drawings.
- Set out grids for buildings and structures.
- Set up, level and calibrate the instrument.
- Set/stake out co-ordinates, levels and lines.
- Understand global and local grid systems and how to manipulate them.
- Understanding sequence of operations in ground works.
- Use on board functions including, resection, survey, traversing, stake out, ref arc/line etc.
- Use spread sheet programs to adjust raw data of a traverse.
